比較（比較級）

比較級は、2つのものや人を比べて、どちらが「より…であるか」を表すための英語表現です。
物事の差や程度の違いを伝える際に使います。

比較級の作り方

1音節の形容詞・副詞

• 多くは語尾に -er をつけます。
  例：
  • tall → taller
  • fast → faster
• 末尾に -e がつく場合は -r をつけるだけです。
  例：
  • large → larger
• 短母音＋子音で終わる場合は子音を重ねます。
  例：
  • big → bigger
  • hot → hotter

2音節以上の形容詞・副詞

• 普通は more + 形容詞（副詞の原級） の形を使います。
  例：
  • careful → more careful
  • beautiful → more beautiful

比較級の基本構文

text主語 + 動詞 + 比較級 + than + 比較対象

• 「than」が比較の対象を示します。

例：

• She is taller than her sister.
  （彼女は姉より背が高い）
• This car runs faster than that one.
  （この車はあの車より速く走る）

比較級の例文

My house is bigger than yours.	私の家はあなたの家より大きい。
He is more careful than his brother.	彼は兄よりも慎重です。
This movie is more interesting than the last one.	この映画は前作より面白い。
The weather today is colder than yesterday.	今日の天気は昨日より寒い。

比較級のポイントと注意

• than の後には比較対象が必ず来る。 (例: taller than him)
• 「more + 形容詞」の場合は2音節以上が基本ですが、「clever」「simple」など一部の2音節形容詞は er も使えます。
• 不規則な比較級形もあるので注意が必要です。

比較級の否定と疑問文

• 否定文で使う例：
