比較（最上級）

最上級は、3つ以上の複数のものや人の中で、「最も～である」ことを表す比較表現です。
「～の中で一番…」という意味を伝えます。

最上級の作り方

1音節の形容詞・副詞

• 語尾に -est をつけ、前に the を付けます。
  例：
  • tall → the tallest
  • fast → the fastest
• 末尾が e で終わる形容詞は -st をつけるだけです。
  例：
  • large → the largest
• 短母音＋子音で終わる場合は子音を重ねます。
  例：
  • big → the biggest
  • hot → the hottest

2音節以上の形容詞・副詞

• 普通は the most + 形容詞（副詞の原級） の形を使います。
  例：
  • careful → the most careful
  • beautiful → the most beautiful

最上級の基本構文

text主語 + 動詞 + the + 最上級

• 形容詞・副詞の最上級は、基本的に「the」がつきます。

例：

• She is the tallest girl in the class.
  （彼女はクラスで一番背が高い女の子です。）
• This is the most interesting book I’ve ever read.
  （これは私が今まで読んだ中で一番面白い本です。）

最上級の注意点・ポイント

• 最上級は必ず the がつきます。
  例外的に特定の副詞の最上級で使わないこともありますが、形容詞の最上級は原則「the + 形容詞＋-est」か「the most + 形容詞」です。
• 「in ～」や「of ～」など、最上級の範囲を示す表現もよく使われます。
  例：
  • He is the tallest in the class.
  • This is the most beautiful painting of all.
• 2音節の形容詞でも -est を使うことがある（例：common → the commonest、simple → the simplest）ため、単語によって違いを学習しておくと便利です。
